Jeff Nelson ’73

72 Jeff Nelson Tight ENd

Jeff Nelson is one of the few San Dimas athletes to be first team All CIF in two sports.  Nelson, a 6-3 safety, was quarterback Steve Barnard’s top target as a receiver.  He led the 1972 team in tackles, receptions and TD receptions.

In basketball, Nelson was a consistent scoring leader in the Pomona Valley and was a shutdown defender.  He finished first in scoring in 71, second in scoring in 72 and first again in 1973. The Saints made the CIF playoffs three times (the first two as all underclassmen)- advancing to the semi finals in 73 before losing on the road to top ranked La Canada.

After high school Nelson played basketball at Mt Sac and later played some football at Wyoming.
