Anthony Fletcher was a dominating figure on the Saints defensive line during his 3 years competing for San Dimas coaches Dave Williams, Greg Setlitch and Ted Clark. During his sophomore season Fletcher, made 45 stops, five sacks and two forced fumbles. He was limited to only 2 games during his junior year but still managed 23 tackles, seven sacks, one fumble, two forced fumbles and one block kick. Anthony considered his greatest athletic thrill was when he scored his first touchdown on a fumble recovery during junior year.
During his Senior year, Fletcher (6-4 and over 250 pounds) was credited with 80 tackles, three forced fumbles and 11 sacks. He earned leave MVP honors and was recognized as PrepStar Western Region Super 30, PrepStar All-American (No 5 DL in West), SuperPrep All-American (No 20DL), Super Prep All-Far West (no 15 prospect), Cornell All-American, and Medium School All-State first team. He was voted LA Times ALL-San Gabriel Valley team and selected to play in the Shrine All-Star game. In addition to football, Fletcher lettered for two years in Track for coach Lough.
Fletcher would go onto play DI football at UCLA where he made his first start his freshman year during the Rose Bowl game against Wisconsin. He made two solo tackles in the game while playing a season high 45 snaps. He played in parts of the game against Miami (29 snaps), USC (19 snaps) and his debut against Houston. He made eight tackles in his true freshman season in 1998.
During the 1999 season at UCLA he played in all 11 games as a Sophomore. On the year he made 32 stops, including four behind the line of scrimmage. On September 18, 1999 against Fresno State, he made the second start of his career leading all defensive linemen with seven tackles. Against Ohio State that year, he came off the bench to make six tackles including two for a loss.
In 2000, Fletcher played in 11 and started 7 games in spite of suffering nagging back and ankle injuries. He played at least 40 snaps on seven occasions and ranked second among lineman with 28 stops and ranked fourth on the team with five tackles for a loss.
