Davis led Bonita to its first CIF Southern Section championship with an 11-0 season, became Bonita’s first CIF-SS Player of the Year in 1941-42, and his 9.6-second time in the 100 yards as a sprinter set a school record. He gained national fame as the Mr. Outside of the Mr. Outside/Mr. Inside halfback-fullback combination with Doc Blanchard at West Point. The pair scored a combined 97 touchdowns. They helped lead West Point to three undefeated seasons and national championships in 1944, ’45, and ’46. He was a three-time consensus All-American. He was selected the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year in 1946. Davis was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1961.
